Our party is driven by evidence and a belief in an open society. Led by Interim Leader Dominic Cardy and Interim President Tara McPhail, we are dedicated to creating sensible, bold solutions to the problems our country faces.

Dominic Cardy

Dominic Cardy, born in the UK in 1970, moved to Fredericton in 1971. He has a rich background in politics and international affairs. Elected as the Progressive Conservative MLA for Fredericton West-Hanwell in 2018, he served as Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. Re-elected in 2020, he continued his role until 2022, when he resigned and now sits as an independent.

Dominic holds a B.A. in Political Science from Dalhousie University. His career includes significant contributions to the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, and the Forum of Federations. He has worked across Asia and Africa in senior managerial roles.

Dominic was the Leader of the New Brunswick New Democratic Party from 2011-2016 and served as Chief of Staff to the Leader of the Opposition from 2017-2018. He is also a member of the editorial board of Inroads, a Canadian policy journal, and has been a flying instructor since 1994.

Tara McPhail

Tara McPhail is the Interim President of Canadian Future, a dynamic and forward-thinking political party. With a robust background in professional self-regulation and management-side labour and employment law, Tara brings a wealth of expertise to her role. Her career began as a political staffer on Parliament Hill, and she has since been a key player in numerous political campaigns. Born in Whitehorse, Tara has lived, worked, or studied in every Canadian jurisdiction except the Maritimes. She is deeply committed to providing Canadians with a political party that is both pragmatic and principled, ensuring that evidence-based policies and bold solutions are at the forefront of the party’s agenda.
